Title: Concepts of indistinguishability, indifferentiability and security proofs

Abstract: Security models, indistinguishability and security proofs form the foundational bedrock of modern provable security, enabling rigorous verification of advanced cryptographic primitives. This lecture aims to provide a comprehensive overview of these concepts, beginning with the formal syntaxes and adversarial frameworks of foundational primitives, including Public-Key Encryption (PKE) and traditional digital signatures. It then scales these definitions to advanced, fine-grained access control and identity paradigms, analyzing Identity-Based Encryption (IBE), Attribute-Based Encryption (ABE), Broadcast Encryption (BE) and Functional Encryption (FE). The discussion unpacks the nuances of indistinguishability under chosen-plaintext and chosen-ciphertext attacks (IND-CPA and IND-CCA), demonstrating how security guarantees are structurally mapped into game-based reductions. Furthermore, the lecture explores highly specialized multi-user and privacy-preserving primitives, examining the unique security architectures of group signature (GS), ring signature (RS), multi- signature (MS), blind signature (BS) and threshold signature (TS).
